This arrangement is asymmetrical because it sweeps from right to left with a long extension out to the left curving toward the table. It has a color scheme of yellow ochre, antique yellow, light pink, orange, white and green with an accent of burgundy. I found a Pantone color pallet that I wanted to use. Pantone makes standardized colors with numbers that architects and designers use. Sarah Renee Clark puts together some beautiful color palettes. I started with the yellow ochre palette called '116-flower'. (Scroll all the way down until you see the orange colored lily about 2/3 of the way down the page past the blue car and mailboxes.) Here's the link: color palette. I added a light pink (ballet slipper), medium pink and a burgundy (tawny port) and took the color palette with me to the flower mart, so that the flowers I picked would all work together.
Many of the flowers used in this fall arrangement are unusual like the Orange Bittersweet Berries on the vine that give form to the arrangement, and the white and green Star of Bethlehem. The yellow ochre cymbidium is unusual to use in a fall arrangement and the bright orange Chinese Lantern Lilies are rare, but really cool. They are about Barbie Doll scale. You could substitute garden roses, cymbidiums, and lemon leaf and from your own garden or you could use only one color of garden roses to cut down on the cost. This arrangement had a front and a back. The back is a mirror image of the front. You could also cut costs by making the display one sided. This arrangement was large. It measured 33 inches wide and 22 inches high and was done for a special event in a large room. The arrangement is advanced, but if you follow all of the steps below, you can do it.
