Baby Shower Flowers

Making flower arrangements for a baby shower is a great way to set the mood for the party. Once you select the theme for the baby shower you can reflect that in the flower arrangements. The venue for this particular baby shower was going to be a craftsman home in a trendy part of town that had on old arbor covered with wisteria vines, so the look we wanted was contemporary but with exotics and freshly cut eucalyptus. A neighbor gave us permission to cut from a eucalyptus tree and we also had fresh cut bougainvillea vine. The accent flowers would be exotics from a market.

We decided to use a very tall and wide glass cylinder as the focal point (made up with flowers this arrangement is about 30 inches high and 24 inches wide…very large). Then we would have a medium sized glass cylinder that would have a smaller version of the arrangement, and then a brushed stainless steel caddy with glass bottles and other petite arrangements. Inside for the centerpiece of the food table would be a silver tray with an arrangement of different shaped ribbed optical glass bud vases with sprigs of geraniums cut from my yard. We took a variety of crystal gem stones to use as weights for napkins.

Good things to know:

  • The size of the flowers should be selected to work with the size of the vase.

  • When transporting optical glass bud vases, keep them wrapped in bubble wrap and in a box while in transit, and fill with water and flowers once at the venue.

  • Once the shower is over, empty each bud vase and wrap in bubble wrap and then a box.

  • If the eucalyptus cuttings are a little too wild, you can wire them where needed…(don’t tell)

  • The mother’s chamomile head wreath needs to be assembled the morning of the shower.
